There are five English vowels: A, E, I, O, U.

Old English Alphabet
The old English alphabet had 29 letters.
Those letters were A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Y, Z, &, ⁊, Ƿ, Þ, Ð, Æ
Three were later added: J, U, W, J and U were added in the sixteenth century while W was considered an independent letter. The extra letters &, ⁊, Ƿ, Þ, Ð, Æ were removed.
The modern English alphabet has 26 letters.
