For some people, high school can be a very tough experience. It’s a time of rapid physical and emotional changes.

Making new friends, figuring out who you are, and navigating relationships with peers can be difficult.

Managing these issues can be especially challenging without proper support and guidance.

Best Tips and Advice for High Schoolers

One Redditor shared their best tips and advice for high schoolers.

Pass this down to your loved ones— whether nieces and nephews, children, or grandchildren— if you think it will help them in their life journey.

1. You’re Not Going to Find Your Soulmate in School

Don’t worry if you don’t find the perfect person for you in high school or college— chances are, that’s not going to happen, according to the poster.

Focus on your studies and education instead; they’re more important than they may seem right now!

2. Relationships End, But Your Life Doesn’t

Breakups are tough, but that doesn’t mean your life is over. Instead, it presents an opportunity for personal growth and change; It is a learning experience.

Even if it is a horrible breakup, he was cheating on you, or your best friend was involved, it gives you a chance to remove those toxic people from your life and start fresh. You will find someone who deserves your attention, effort, and love.

3. Don’t Try to Please Everyone

Don’t try to gain the approval of everybody around you and especially not your peers. You do not need to be the “cool kid” in class, and it’s okay if they disapprove.

Despite what it may feel like at times, chances are everyone is far more concerned about themselves than they are about you.

4. Quit Dwelling On Your Mistakes

mistreatment

Don’t let the ridicule of a few people make you feel ashamed. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has experienced moments like yours. And, if those insensitive individuals have laughed at your expense, chances are that they, too, can recall similar experiences in their past.

Everyone makes mistakes. It’s inevitable – we all do something silly or embarrassing at some point in our lives, and while it may cause us to feel ashamed, the moment passes, and all is forgotten.

5. Don’t Give Up

Don’t be disheartened if your high school experience doesn’t turn out as planned. The end of school marks a fresh start— you won’t have to deal with bullies, drama, or false relationships anymore.

College professors are a different story, but the amount of stress released when you finish high school is incredible!

Don’t let someone else make you give up on life. There are so many new things to experience and explore when you leave school, and it will all be worth it in the end. Keep going, and don’t give up!

6. You Will Not Grow Up

Another user chimed in. “I hope I can add something to this: you will NOT grow up! You won’t magically change when turning 18 or 21 or 30; your mind will always stay like it is now.”

As we age, our minds may change and adapt to new experiences, but there is no real moment when one can say they are officially “grown up.”

6. You Will Not Grow Up

Even people in their 80s still feel like they haven’t reached that point yet. Growing older does not necessarily mean growing up; it simply means gaining more experience and learning from your mistakes.

There is no definitive time or age when you instantly become an adult who can take on all of life’s responsibilities. Everyone matures in their own way, at their own pace. It takes more than just a number to grow up!

7. Stop Focusing on Your Flaws; No One Else Is

Another user commented: “We aren’t wired to focus on each other’s shortcomings; we see the person and how great they are.”

Don’t focus too much on your flaws— no one else is paying as close attention to your mistakes as you are.

7. Stop Focusing on Your Flaws; No One Else Is

We all have moments of embarrassment or failure, but they quickly pass and are forgotten by everyone around us. Try to remember that everyone else is far more focused on their own issues than they are on yours.

Don’t let the criticism of others keep you from enjoying life and growing as a person. You have so much potential, don’t give up! Keep going and see where your journey takes you.
